Applesauce Cake 1 cup sugar ½ cup butter cream & let stand 1 cup apple sauce 1 tsp cinnamon 1 salt spoon mace 1 salt spoon ginger 1 cup [cut?] raisins 1 tsp soda (baking) sift flour & soda & mix well.

Salad dressing ½ cup sour cream or milk 1 egg salt pepper chopped parsley vinegar to taste onion juice if desired salt spoon sugar salt spoon cornstarch Mix well & continue beating while on the stove until it thickens - then add small piece of butter

Very nice for potato salad

War Cake

1 cup brown sugar 1 cup water 1 lbs butter or [Santay?] ½ package large raisins 1 tsp. cinnamon, ginger, mace salt & alspice [allspice] & taste {Bake all 45 mins}

Boil for 3 minutes When cool add 1 tsp baking soda dissolved in 1 lbs of warm water add ½ cup of cut citron if desired makes cake richer 1½ cups flour

Plain & Nut Cake

6 oz. flour 4 oz. sugar 3 oz. butter 2 eggs ½ cup milk 1 rounded tsp. bak ing powder

{Bake moderate oven 35 min}

½ cup washed & floured raisins ¼ cup of chopped nuts

This makes a very rich & delicious cake

Jelly Roll

2 eggs 2 oz flour 3 tbs. powdered sugar ¼ tsp baking powder Jam or Jelly

Separate the eggs - beat yolk very light Beat sugar flour & baking powder into yolks. When well mixed add stiffly beaten whites, pour in shallow square pan - well greased & bake in hot oven 10 minutes turn off edged lay on damp cloth spread with jelly & roll.
