1876 Janry 1st. Clear aspen Grove about day Break before sun rise cloudy & like for rain weather moderate Mr Bybee came yesterday to put new strings to my clock & Sent for Mr Mattherly as he could not See & did not get it together & said they would come back this morning & get right If they could Rained a little this morning --

2nd Janry 1876 Weather moderate Sunday all my Shoats is up

3rd " " Edmond cutting in new ground & Jimmy

" " " Peter Adams gone to Carry his Sister to Depot

4 " " Edmd & Jimmy cutting in new ground " " Peter Adams has not come home Fair Peter come in evening pretty morning " " I went to Mount Airy & Jordens in evening

5 " Edmond & Jimmy Cutting Peter Adams also cutting & will clear off & cutt wood to burn Plant Bed between here & Martha Neals Peter Adams got home last night got an axe at Whitehead & Fitzgeralds for me If I want it If I dont want it Peter Adams is to take it at $1.20 - Pretty day & fine weather cloudy & like for rain

6th clear off in night this morning fair Windy & We are burning Plant next to Martha Neals Peter helping

7 Finished Burning Plant Bed next to Miss Neals & getting ready to Sew this evening & expect to Sew it in the morning & finish it

8. went to Meeting S S. M. to day

9th. Went to Meeting Bro Booker came here last night

10. Fanney W Moses & Matty Coleman Came here last night & gone to Mr Woodings our folks cutting wood for Plant Bed on Johnss Branch to day Turned cool - cutting & Hauling wood to Burn to day & will cut wood to Burn plant Bed tomorrow If we can

11 Cutting wood to burn plant Bed to day

12 Burning plant Bed on John's Branch quite cool this morning. I am about starting to Mount Airy

1876 Dec 13th Plowing choping draining & Sewed & fence in Plant Bed on John's branch & will finished it this evening Still clear & cold Jeremiah H Graves came here yesterday & went home this evening.

15 Jimmy Hauling wood Edmd cutting in new ground Peter gone above Green field Preaching

16th. Cloudy & like for falling Weather

[17] Edmd cutting in new ground Mr Mattherly put Lock on my corn house as I cant find the Key Weather still moderate cloudy

[1]8 I went to Mount Airy waggon & Cart after corn 5 Bbls Hauling leaves this evening both Turns, Weather moderate subscribe & pd Mr GA Creasey for news paper at Pittsya CH V[a]

19 Raining this morning & nearly all night Edmd striping Tobacco Peter Adams gone to Settle with Creed J Tucker weather moderate

20 Went to Edmond Tucker after got 318 Hauling leaves in farm pen, & raking clear day & cooler than for Several day

21st. Edmond cutting in new ground Peter too Scattered leaves, got 1 Gallon Tar from [Chartoll?] Hodnett thro H Templetons 1 Gallon Tar Jimmy & Wm Hauling rails from cow pen around Lot at old prize Barn & expect to begin to Plow to day for Tobacco & corn -- weather moderate

22nd Little cloudy this morning Jim Wright here making Rocker for 3 Horse waggon Edmond Dews maulling wood Jimmy Plowing 2 Horses in Lot for Tobacco Peter cutting till 12 oclock & then he is going away to red Oak hollow & Harveys Preaching & marying

23 Clear nearly weather moderate I expect to go Prayer Meeting SSMH

26. I am fixing to Mr Wm Moses to day Edmd in new ground & Peter in his Jimmy Plowing clear morning

27 Going after Plank at Millers Mill for Edmond Tucker Jimmy & Peter going to Plowing Edmond Cutting in new ground cloudy & like for snow — got Edmond Tuckers Plank & carried it home - Milly young Cow had a calf to day Bull Calf Beautiful weather yet. very moderate

28 Carried a Log to the Mill & Brot home Edmond Tuckers Plant & Carried it home

29 Carried 3½ Bus wheat Robt. Tucker went after my Plank. Edmond Dews Cutting Jimmy Plowing. Nannie Dews cleaning up & Piling brush in my Patch, Raining this morning weather unsettled, still raining moderate weather

30th. Mrs Fannie Howard of Mary Lewis Came here Friday evening to go with my wife to Jeres & Sallies yesterday morning & behold it was raining in morning & more or less till late in evening Miss Mary went home & said her Pa would want the Horse she rode Mrs Howard Staid till this morning & cleared off last night & this morning my wife & Mrs H started to meeting ministers & Deacon at new Prospect to day go to see Sallies to night Jeres & Kates tomorrow & Come home Fuesday I went with them to old place this morning & S. S Creek

Feby 1st Edmd Dews Eze malling Peter Plowing Tom Jimmy gone to Mill Millers after flour cloudy & like for falling weather I am to Jacob P. came here Sundaymonday morning& Mot home EdmdNat l25 cts for Cutting & 25¢ for mallingrails Ed - nat says he malled 250 Rails to day

2nd Feby cold & windy this morning cleared off my wife came home this evening Just before it commenced raining Peter was Plowing Fanney Howardclear & cold this morning went home yesterday

3rd Peter Adams is gone to Mr Wallers to borrow some Coal weather more moderate Edmond Dews Nat. Malling & Edmond Dews & his gang in new ground Ez Cutting & malling in his new ground

4th Snow a little yesterday rained a little last night This morning snow in good nearnest. Edmond Dews, Nat not quite done malling Edmd Dews Eze. done cutting in his new ground. Peter is not quite done Cutting his newground

5 Peter Adams & Edmd in Black Smiths Shop Fixing Cart mending skins & yoke & made a pr Tongs I gave him a Bbl for stack Tub & wash Tub for himself.

6th cloudy & Rainy I went to see Miss N Neal weather not quite as cold as yesterday Raining nearly all day long

7 cleared off last night to day I went to Mr Woodings Edmond Tuckers & Peters Edmond Dews malling & Getting Oats & Jimmy Peter Cutting in his new ground, getting cloudy again going to divid[e] fodder Edmond Dews & me Oats

8 Feby 1876 Cloudy & like for rain Hauling up Blade fodder this morning above John's Spring cutting & malling Edmd & Peter both after getting up fodder Edmd Dews, Nat, cutting & maulling to day next to Edmd Tuckers Hauled up so that we averaged the Stack 350 lbs1 Stack fodder to be weighed 363 weighed

9th cutting & malling Edmd Dews is Here Peter Adams gone to Mr Templetons. Cloudy & like for falling weather shortly Edmond & me averaged the Stacks @ 350 a ps & 1 stack oats Edmds & 1 for Seed Jimmy Plowing Sent Peter to H Templeton to Roll Login Lot back of old Prize Barn

10 Helpt H Templetons to Roll Logs Peter Plowing & Jimmy Edmd Dews Malling in his new ground Peter & Edmd goned to M Neale Gilberts to burying to day -- Jimmy is Plowing in Lot this morning -- Nannie Dews working for to day, beautiful day clear pretty & moderate weather

11th Jimmy & Peter Plowing Nellie Plowing Edmond Hauling rails around Corn field fence by corn house Wm shrubing for corn Millie young Heifer had a Calf Bull which we call Mike about 1st Feby yesterday Thursday was a very day & clear To day cloudy but weather very moderate There has been 2 cold Spells mostly moderate Smart Rain but Only 1 Small Snow

12th Beautiful morning Peter gone Jimmy Plowing Lot by my corn House Edmond & Wm Cleaning up corn Land weather very moderate I am or expect to go to meeting SS to day

13th Mr Moses Kate Jere & Joe Whitehead came here Saturday evening from meeting Saturday night & went to meeting Sunday & Nannie too roads bad began to rain before night & Rained more or less all night Lewis Yeates hurt himself at his mill & Mrs Howards horse threw her Sunday & hurt her badly
