I wrote a note accordingly – & sent it
through Dr Burns explaining to him
how & why I have written it & bidding
him give it or not at discretion
She talked to him of her affairs so
he knows how everything stopped –
well he gave it – but be never could
get her suffly [sufficiently] settled to act on it.
although she goes on talking of [it] as
always in exactly the same terms.
I suppose my note is on her desk.
Mrs [indecipherable] her near neighbour
told me that she only has to
begin to speak of Ch & me to keep
her interested at any time
She took a great fancy for him
from her first sight of him years
ago. Lady McA told her the same –
now of course no one can do
anything – I am so concerned for the
Bowmans – Lady M told me all
I know – & of course poor Miss McA
out of £30 p. an [per annum] minus £5.
