with Lady M who broaches the subject
of these failures to me. & I told her
the above. she counselled me to ask
for it – then – & I did so . because
I thought if she was in a state to
give it – it wd be good for all.
She asked me every time she saw
me "My dear girl are you sure you
dont want me to help you. How
are you managing with yr house
unlet & so on" – At first I always
said 'oh very well dont you worry
about that at all" for I found she
got excited about this idée fixe –
however after seeing Lady McA
I said next time I saw her
"well now if you really have the
money still idle I will have it"
She seemed quite pleased & said
"My poor memory fails me so
will you write it for me & send
it & Dr Burns & Mr S. will do it" –
