October last. I beg to acquaint you that on the 29th following I proceeded to Bridlington for the purpose of receiving from the representative of the late Mr Stephenson several anchors, chains [etc?] that had been deposited by Salvors in the admiralty yard during the time he held the office I [now?] fill on which occasion my travelling expenses amounted to Thirteen shillings.
I request to be informed whether I am to charge the said sums of 13/= againt the proceeds of sale of the said anchors together with such other expenses I may [receive?] when I attand the sale after the 7th [??] as whether I am to submit the same for your approval in order that I may be re-paid such expenses in the manner provided by a General order of the Customs Department [Nov?] [??] 1855

Have the goodness to let me know by return of post the amount of expenses you have incurred on account of postage, writing paper, expenses on attending sale of Wreck the other day and any other expenses you may have incurred in this matter.
