44 Sea Trip to N.W.
The Europa, which we boarded on Sept,
21 1945, had been captured from the
Germans. We had approximately
5,000 passengers. The trip by
sea was uneventful
42 Arrival in U.S.
It was great to see the "Lady" and the
skyline of New York. We were greeted
by fire boats and other ships blowing
horns and spraying water. The
Europa, A Prize of War, later burned
at dock in New York. As we departed
from the ship, we were met by the
Red Cross, who gave us goodies, and
fresh milk, which was so good. I normally
do not like milk. Just glad to be
back on American soil and almost
home.
43 Trip to Separation Center
From the New York Dock we were placed
on train cars for the different destinations
Parrish and I found our car was scheduled
for Ft. Bragg, N.C. Our car was cut
and hooked at least two times and by
the next morning we were at Ft.
Bragg.

The Ft. Bragg Separation Center
processed our documents in a very
efficient and prompt manner. We
had no duties at Ft. Bragg. In about
