1845 Feby 22 this week Mr Moon has got shingles to cover Old House & he Began to strip tobacco in Big Barn on Hill this day - 21st halled lugs out of Mr Grastys new ground this day.
26th Feby. Beautiful weather allmost like May- Jas C. Hunt married yesterday 25th Feby 1845 — Shingling our old House this day Burning log Heaps etc etc Plowing in mountain field Mr Moon left on Thursday 27th Feby & Irby on Friday 28th without finishing
March 1 Children started to school this day -Jeremy at Stony Point & Plowing -Planted Irish Potatoes, English Peas & onions etc etc began to prize Lugs
7 I went to Rice to meeting
8 Raining & we are stripping Tobacco weather changed & a good deal cooler In Jany 1845 made a bargain Mr Jas Murphy to Plaster my House & white wash it to be finished off as I want it for $45. But If I think myself this work is worth $47.50$ I am to give him that sum the two Dolls and fifty cents is at my discretion which sum of $45 I am to pay said Murphy March or april 1846 - this is our contract

1845 Sept. 1st Covered in Tobacco House & began to Pull fodder here at Home -- Mr Taylor & Birchet Came at night to commence painting our House ———————
2nd Sept Sent for my wife. Just returned from charlotte Mr Taylor & Birchet Painting outside House - Pulling fodder
12th Finished Pulling fodder at stony point Painted the roof of our House this day
15 Cutting Tobacco, –
16 Cutting Tobacco & finished Pulling fodder Finished Painting outside of House
17 Painters Finished this evening
18 Painters left this morning Succoring Tobacco & cutting tops etc this day
20 & 21 I am sick & failed to go to meeting at Strait Stone
22 Picking Turnip Patch, Halling Rails & wood Phil gone to Rice Lila spining Balance cutting Tobacco
20 Sent to Mrs. Hunts for some flour which she gave my wife, flour Bbl full

1846 June 29th Plowing left hand side Path thro field ground very hard 30 Finished weeding Tobacco this oth side branch - & Replanted in the evening it Rained a little

July 1st Rained a smart shower last night weeding Tobacco the other side& hilling upbranch from house
2nd Plowing corn & weeding Tobacco. last evening about night it rained a pretty shower 3rd Rained yesterday & last night
3rd This morning cloudy & ground too wet to work, Hilling up new ground Tobacco - etc etc Rained 2 Showers to day, ground too wet except Our new ground which we are hilling up, top a little Tobacco —

17th Sept47 Began to Cutt Tobacco on Johns Branch wednesday evening 15th now Cutting on Spring Branch put up seven stacks fodder & some in house Went to Lynchg Last week & carried 27 B 24 lbs wheat & 1½ Bus Corn very wet time, sold wheat for 90¢ corn for 55¢
27 Since the Seventeenth we have finished our Blade fodder, 12 stacks 9 Double 3 Single & finished this morning finished cutting Tops Cured 600 Hundred Stacks Tobacco in prize Barn & Expect to begin to Lot Tobacco this evening, Several of our family have been sick, Jerry sick at this time Doct Thompson has been one visit & 2 Call visits to see him, Now he is mending - Thanks be God Weather warm & no frost yet, -Great deal of Tobacco to cut last week Talton worked on chimney 2½ or nearly
29 Weather a little Cool & yesterday
28 Cut Lot Tobacco 400 stacks - & this day Halling Tobacco in middle Barn & firing new ground & succoring Mr or Elder Joel Hubbards trial at Rices Meeting House this day
Oct 1st Weather warm Cured nearly 3 Houses 800 sticks in middle barn Tobacco & have Cut all but Lot & new ground clean -
Oct 2nd Halling up & stacking Top fodder gathering Beans Peas & snap seed, etc etc, carried the 1st of this week 2 Bbls Corn to mill for meal my wife gone to Mrs Hunts Jerry better
Oct. 2nd weather good & began to stack our tops this 3rd likely for Rain

1848 Feby 26th gone to mill ½ Bbl Buck wheat & 2 Logs 1 for square Edged Plank the other for Railing 2½ by 3 Inches.
27 Fair day & good weather for winter my wife gone to Mrs Hunts etc etc

29 Rolled Logs Plowing & Raking leaves in little new ground,
March 1st finished Rolling Logs with our own force & began new ground fence
2nd This morning snowing, spining etc Snowed all day, its now 4 or 5deepInches very disagreeable weather indeed
3rd Halled up stack Oats this day & seed Oats a few days past - spining & shellingcorn Hail & snow about 8 or 9 Inches Deep
4 Treading out2 stacksseed Oats to day Fed shoemaking. Lila & Jane spining Sent 2 Horses to shop to be shod new shoes before old ones nailed on behind Fair day & moderate weather snow melted but little yet, my wife been sick with toothacke|tooth]] nearly all weekache etc. took Physic this morning
