Trustees.

A meeting of the Trustees was holden at the office of C.P. Curtis Esqr. on Present Messrs Bigelow, Brimmer, C.P. Curtis, B. R. Curtis, Gould, Read, and Crockett.

C.P. Curtis was chosen Chairman pro. tem. In the absence of the Secretary, B. R. Curtis was chosen Secreary pro tem.

Joseph Story memorial of.

Dr. Bigelow offered the following resolutions which having been read was unanimously adopted: -

The Trustees of Mount Auburn Cemetery deeply affected by the event which has taken from them their presiding head, and from society one of its most beloved and distinguished ornaments are anxious that some suitable memorial should be placed in remembrance of his worth upon a spot which was beloved and frequented by him in life, and to the improvement of which he devoted much of his time and ardent interest.

Therefore voted. That the Trustees offer to the friends and fellow citizens of the deceased a place in the new Chapel now in the progress of erection at Mount Auburn for the reception of a marble statue of the late Joseph Story, when such a work, worthy of the

Voted. That the Secretary be requested to call a meeting of the Trustees on

Story memorial

Voted. That a committee of three be appointed to take order as to the Statue of Judge Story; - Messrs Bigelow Brimmer and C. P. Curtis ---- were accordingly appointed to constitute said committee.

Trustees.

Pursuant to notices issued in the usual manner by the Secretary a meeting of the Trustees was holden on at the office of C.P. Curtis Esqr. Present Messrs C.P. Curtis, B. R. Curtis, Brimmer, Bigelow, Crockett and Parker.

Joseph Story bequest from.

The President read certain letters ^papers concerning a bequest to this Corporation from the late Judge Story, after some conversation Voted. That we accept the bequest - from the late Joseph Story and that the Treasurer be authorized to receive the same and give the necessary receipts. And further - - -

Voted. To refer the whole subject of the said bequest to a committee of two to report at an adjourned meeting. The Committee chosen for this purpose are Messrs Isaac Parker and B.R. Curtis.

Story memorial.

Mr Brimmer presented the subscription papers in relation to the statue of the late Judge Story, thereupon (in conformity with the terms of said subscriptions) - -

Voted. That a meeting of the subscribers to said statue be called at the office of the Secretary of this Corporation on by individual notification from the Secretary.

A.B. Young.

Mr Brimmer submitted to the meeting a letter from Ammi B. Young in relation to a design and plans furnished by him for a Chapel at Mount Auburn, which having been read it was unanimously Voted. That a vote of thanks be presented to Mr Young for the donation of his bill for a valuable design for a Chapel at Mount Auburn.

Story, Joseph Memorial

"for the purpose of procuring a marble statue of the late Joseph Story to be placed in Mount Auburn Chapel" notified and holden agreeably to the vote of the Trustees passed in relation thereto at the last meeting viz

"Voted. That the Trustees of the Proprietors of the Cemetery "of Mount Auburn be & hereby are appointed a committee "to carry out the view of the subscribers in this matter, and " in case of any exigency to call another meeting of the "subscribers as they shall see fit." - Thereupon it was

STORY Statue.

Voted. That the Trustees will accept the commission so intrusted to them by the subscribers to the fund for the erection of a marble statue of the last Joseph Story, and act under the same accordingly

Voted. That the Treasurer proceed to collect the money so subscribed and cause the same to be invested under the direction of the Committee of Finance.

Voted. That the President and Mr Brimmer be a committee to enquire and report a suitable artist to execute the purposes of the subscribers to the statue of Joseph Story and the manner in which the same shall be executed.

The Trustees then adjourned without day. A true record. Attest Henry M. Parker. Secretary.

Trustees.

Pursuant to notices issued in the usual manner by the Secretary, the Trustees met on in the office of C.P. Curtis Esqr Present Messrs Jacob Bigelow, Martin Brimmer, Geo. W. Crockett, B.R. Curtis, C.P. Curtis, B.A. Gould, John C. Gray, and Isaac Parker.

Dr. Bigelow from the committee on the Story memorial submitted the following report.

"Boston. "the committee appointed at the last meeting of "the Trustees of Mount Auburn Cemetery, to make inquir"ies respecting a suitable artist to execute a Statue of the "late Jude Story - report,

"That they have ascertained that Mr William "W. Story of this city has designed a bust of his father, "and also a small model of a full length statue, "both of which bid fair to convey a more just im"pression of the character, expression, and likeness "of the deceased than, in the opinion of the Commit"tee, the Trustees would be likely to obtain from "any other source.

"They therefore recommend the passage of "the following vote

"Voted. that a committee be appointed with full "power to contract with Mr Wm W. Story for a mar"ble statue of the late Mr Justice Story to be placed "by him in Mount Auburn chapel for a sum "not exceeding the amount which is or may be "subscribed for that object and in the hands of "the Trustees (Signed) Jacob Bigelow} M. Brimmer} Committee"
