where will in due couse of mail for
which please accept my thanks. -
I owe you an apology for my delay
in writting but due you for the treese
sent Mr Bartlett and myself. -
I [recd?] those you sent, put them in the

in, the prep of earth was frozen though
but I think they will come out safe in the
spring. Your idea of [illegible] the [front?]
[slope?] of the bluff with trees corresponed with
my own suggeswtions. I shall addopt it
I am surpized that you have no demand for
[American Chsnut?] trees, by they are not
[illegible] to this section at least and do
will be after a few [winters?] protection. If the
Spanish Chsnut is not hardy I do not want
them, altho' our climate is milder than your
we somtims have the Thermometer down to 18 @ 20
degres blow [0?]
