With reference to paragraph of [??] Instruction No 8b which directs that the report Book and Returns are to commence on the 1st October 1855 with a new [??] number commencing with No 1 -- I will thank you to inform me whether the numbers are to run for a year -- or whether I am to commence with a new nubmer each quarter.

[noted in different color ink, in column next to above] The Receiver of [??] for the Bridlington District is informed in reply to his letter of the 16 Janry that the report Book is to commence with a new number at the beginning of each year. [??] 2 February 1856
