Untranscribed 1862

met with 15 Reb chaplains sent up by
our government Sleep but little during
the night. Some of the chaplains sleep
more. praise god for his goodness

Thursday 8 after diner we left City point
for fortress (__) pased (__) (__)
and the (__) fleet and arrived at
the first a little after sun set
had a pleasant sail down the James
took in Rations at the fort received a letter
from Jas S. Crawford with 5 in gold left
the fort at 8 oclock for Washington
on the river all night

Friday 9 passed fort Washington and
Mt Vernon have a view of the fort
(__) on both sides of the river
arrived in washington city at 1 oclock
meet up at the Rich wood House

Saterday 10 went to the war depart
from there to the att Gen office
got our pay for 4 months
and a furlo for 30 days meet
with major Ricketts at 3 oclock
took cars for home chaplain
Bracy(?) going as far as Baltimore
I arrived in Elkton about 9 oclock
and found quite a number of
citizens waiting my arrival I had my
