My Dearest Thomas,

Starting of another month. Summer will soon be gone and what then. All we can do is just wait for no one knows how long it will be. Lets just hope it wont be so much longer.

I had a letter from Momma today and a three page one from you. They were July 21st just eleven days old not so bad. Don't know what I would do without them.

Guess you are getting plenty of good eats and Aunt Linda. I wouldn't mind sitting down to one of her good meals myself.

Funny thing I haven't been to hot or bother with mosquitos either. I don't believe I've seen one this summer. We have flies but not to bad. Guess you will find them every place. Flies are the only pest we have.

Glad Kay likes her shoes. I didn't know how they would be. Do you think they made a good gift? Maybe I can find something else sometimes. I want to find something for you. Let me know what color purse you would like in case I can find one. Feeling find and dandy.

I love you, Harry

My dearest Thomas,

Reccieved your air mail letter today. Glad to get a nice air mail. Yes, I like them better than I do V. mail but am satisfied with anything as long as I Can hear from you.

Hope mommy can soon be back with you. I know it is bad having to sleep out or looking for some one to stay with you. I don't wan't you staying by yourself no matter how much trouble it is. I wouldn't feel satifsfied with you staying alone.

I went to the movies again to day saw " The Piedpiper"! [crossed out] Olson [end crossed out] when the picture started Olson said, "ive seen this picture before so I'll just go to sleep." He really did and sleep through the whole show.

Don't guess I'll get to see another show for a few days. When I came in there was plenty work waiting for me. I'm not starting on it 'til in the morning. Oh, well it won't last by a day or two. Our crew is so well orginzed that we wade right through the work in short order.

Sure would hate to get seperated from this bunch of boys. They are fine to work with, this means the whole set up from the top to bottom.

Will write you an air mail letter in a few day until then and always I think of you and love you,

Harry

To Mrs Harry L. Ward From H. L Ward Sp (M) 2/c Gatesville, NC Navy 142 c/o F.P.O. New York, NY Aug, 3, 1943 My dearest Thomas, Another day gone with nothing much to write about. In fact all the days are nearly alike. The only change is some days we have more work to do than others. Will be glad when they pass and I can be back home with you again. You were telling me how dry it was, suppose you hadn't seen any rain in over three months. Things would be in bad shape wouldn't it. We hardly notice any difference. Guess I will be getting my cookies before long, wont I enjoy them. We generally have some coffee at night so I am thinking how good those cookies will be then. How are my letters coming through now. Let me know if they are slowed up much and if you had rather have V-mail . That is photographed V. mail letters. I think of you all the time and looking for the time when we can be together again. I love you, Harry
