My dear Sir,

I should have written you before on the following matter, if I had not the impression that you were still ^^{at the} South.

The Committee on Lots have considered your application to know for what sum the Corporation will assume the perpetual care of lot no. 1114 in the Cemetery, and have directed me to inform you that such contract will be entered into on payment of five hundred dollars ($500) when the lot shall have been put in good repair. --

The repairs estimated each needed by the Sup^t are as follows: --

1000 feet sods	37.50
1 cord manure	12.00
Cleaning monument	8.00
10 days labor	23.80
[total]	81.30

This you perceive does not take in painting fence, which you propose now to do. I presume the Sup^t thought it would do a year or two longer. I remember it is painted white, but looks much better than the lot generally.

The ^^estimated cost of repairs seems large -- but is not really so: for instance 1000 feet sods -- There is, you know, a very high bank on the avenue side of your lot.

From the prominent position of this lot, I sincerely trust you may find it convenient to carry out your design to place it in charge of the Corporation.
