1853 Decr 20 & 21st Cutting wood for Plant Bed etc Sent for Steer at Mrs Hunt got from John D Hunt. 25-6 & 7th cold & fair, finished striping Our fresh ground barn Tobacco Saturday before X, Just began to for Corn Plow

29th Snowed all day yesterday, Snow about 4 Inches Deep Cate & Jacob gone to Mr Fitzgeralds Mrs Mosely & overbys 2 children here yesterday & to day. My nannie gone with her to John D Hunts. clear & cold to day —

30 Went to CH about Decree, Rained & snowed all day

31 Done but little disagreeable weather,

Jany18541st Snowed again shelling corn all day

2nd Halling Logs to Yates & Paid & over paid the Logs I owed him, he is to give some difference in Logs in Plank & the Oak Plank for Boxes he is to allow me 1½ $ pr Hundred I have carried 1 Large Log for that purpose —

3rd Cutting etc etc

4 Halling wood waggon & Cart, Just Hitched Our young steers to day

5 all Hands Cutting Nannie & Cate gone to Mrs Hunts & Jerry & sallie I expect to go to D P Millers to day ¬

6 Sent to Farris Mill 2 Bbls grain & 3 Do for chop 3 Bags Cotton Picked Hired Out McCullocks negroes

9 Snowed again 5 or 6 Inches Deep

10 Halled up Ice to day - cold weather Snow melted but little

11 Striping Tobacco wrote to my Papa Raining all day Henry bottoming

16 Cutting in new ground & Plowing

17 Raining taking down prize Barn & Striping - etc etc.

1857 July 10th Wm Williams came last night one more Horse, Raining this morning & doing but little Warm fine growing weather If the ground gets wet,- Killed Lamb to day - cleared off but littlerain Finished Halling up fresh ground on Johns Branch choping in corn nearly done laying by fresh field with Plows gone to stoney pint to day at 12. runing next to corn —

11th Painting top of House to day in evening Came a very hard Rain some Hail & a real Gust,- Blowed down our fencing — etc etc

12th went to Sunday school little rain this evening Nannie Jaw & tooth swelled very much this week I was sick yesterday myself

13th Replanted Tobacco this morning our Plowing Corn at Stoney pint choping & Hilling up Tobacco at new ground Fine day my wife gone to Mrs Hunts

14th clouday this morning finishing Painting top of House - Plowing corn working new ground Tobacco fine weather ——

15th Rained last night & cloudy & like for Rain this morning began to cut Oats Fed & clem at new ground To make Paste to put paper in a room a little allum, & Gum arabic,

16th Cutting Oats to day Abram Crews here Sandy Plowing Fed at new ground Painters done about 9 Oclock & started Paid them $45

17. 18. 19 Hilling up Tobacco Cutting Oats & Plowing in corn. 19th went to meeting & Sunday school

20. 21. 22. 23 working new ground Tobacco went to Court Halling up wheat & finished cutting Oats 21st Mr Overby & his wife here & children etc etc etc
