Dear Sir,
The subject of selecting a candidate for a Gatekeeper was today referred to a Committee consisting of Messrs Rand & Norcross -- and they were authorized to employ temporarily a suitable person. They have a meeting on Wednesday morning to consider the various applications -- at 9 1/2 o'clock at my office, where they expect some of the applicants to appear in person: & they have asked me to invite you to be present.
Meanwhile, they wish you to place any suitable man of your force at the Gate.
Respectfully yours
