1866 Janry 22nd. Malling in new Gro[und …] wood when he Came back from the [ …] & flour went mules & wagon, - roads very [ …] 2 Blocks to S. Stone meeting House for Step[s… ] Doors weather has moderated very much,

23rd, Janry 1866. Have been malling to day & Halling wood out of new ground, made dog House to day Jerry Came down to day moderate day & no rain or snow.

24th Raining this morning & nearly all night quite a day of Rain & cold, cloudy & dark, making Bars & getting off Sorghum Seed - cant do much –

25. Rained nearly all night, a little freese this morning Ben Raking up manure cleaning Out Stables Balancing malling to day – Pride going to Capt Wooding to see Something about going to School to new London, heard nothing from Capt Wooding about the school

26th malling in new Ground Ben raking up manure then cutting up trees in new ground tolerable day I went to Cedar Hill old place & Rolands to see about makings shoes for Pride, Bybee gone to Motleys Carried all the Cotton to have Picked Jerry at home at new ground I brot home filling some bottles my Tin Box, Varnish & foot a[?],– lent Jerry Bill I rode his Horse home

27 Still Cloudy & like for rain or snow, Pride & me made 6 Hens nest, finished malling, halled out straw 2 days this week, the sun not seen 3 days not seen much cloudy nearly all the week repairing Gear House nailing on Boards

28th clouday day did not see the sun

29th. Snowed Saturday evening & night weather moderate Began to clean up new ground in fresh field Sun shining to day, young Sow in Granary lot had 5 Pigs Sunday morning very littely the Large young sow brot from Cedar Hill has been sick 4 days I think she is a little better this morning

30th. Shrubing ps new ground in fresh field, snow nearly g[one]

Feby 2nd Plowing to day claiborne & Big Henry Cutting wood to burn Plant Bed, in slash Billy & myself put up & Covered Bee House to day got done by dinner nearly

3rd Sent little Henry to Mill at Yates to day with 4 Bushels Corn for me ½ Bbl for Henry, some Sorghum Seed & some corn for chop for cows Pretty morning cold, Pride gone to Mrs Colemans to go with Mattie & Alice to CH to school Board at Mr Hargraves & Mary Coleman gone with them - to stay at Mr Hargraves for with Mattie & Alice & Mr Hargrave gives her ½ he gets board for one of them for her to attend to his business while they are there & charges me $15 pr month Board (enormous) a ps says he cant do it any lower – 4th I went to SS. M H. this day fixed Block to front doors halled ps. there for Horse Blocks nailed up Horse shoes for me to tie[?] our Horses had Blind Tushes Knocked out of Molleys mouth Cutting wood for Plant Bed

4th Fannie & Mr Wm Came down yesterday 4th cloudy this morning & like for falling weather

5th. Burning plant Bed in Slash Pride gone to Mr Pannills to hear something from new London School got Robin shod before give him shoes & money for that, - cold weather ground hard frozen, - Finished Burning Plant Bed

6th Pride did not come till this morning or about Dinner Jerry came back last night Cold weather Fenced in Plant Bed this morning sewed it last night Fencing in new ground this evening & Halling wood, with mules sow that was sick is something Better, Billy Hunt came here Just at night to work on Garden, cloudy & cold - he got 10 Post

1866 Aspen Grove Feby 7th Henry &claiborne, his son […] Bees this morning hot here before 9 […] Safe, little Henry Halling wood. balance […] in new ground, cloudy & cold like for snow Billy getting Garden Post this morning & Just set in to work. very cold

8th. I went to Cedar Hill to day, & went to Rolands - our folks finished new ground fence & then Halled Leaves little Henry Plowing - Double Plow Billy Hewed Garden Post & making Door to Bee House this evening - did not finished it

9. Halled Leaves again this day Henry plowing Halled up Garden Post & forks for Horse rack Billy fixed Bee House door, made Bench Horse & put up Horse Rack, Beautiful weather Pride Hunt started to new London to school Jerry carried him, over there, fine weather

10th Halled Rails out of new ground & finished new ground fence, etc Henry Plowing & broke his Plow I went to Strait Stone meeting fine weather

11th Kate & Mr Moses Came here last night we went to meeting to day fine moderate weather my young sow that has been sick so long had 4 Pigs last night & I did not know she was in that way at all, - we drove the mules to Car. =riage to day to Strait stone, they pulled fine

12th. Rained some, Rolled Logs to day in new ground & ps in fresh ground, above Neals old Barn put up 15 or 20 small heaps only 4 small heaps in new ground Jerry help us with 2 hands send some Pea Hulls down for Sheep & got 2 waggon wheels from Big McHaney waggon to Hall wood - etc

13th. claiborne Henry & Ben shrubing in fresh field Little Plowing in Lot back of old prize Barn I went up to Cedar Hill got some Peach sci[?] home set them back of smoke house done up back of our chimney - I found Jacob P Graves
