Dr Renton

Dear Sir,

What progress, if any, do you make in the matter of lots numbered 1349, 1350, &c. on Oxalis Path, in the Cemetery. When we last met, (it being also the first time) I believe you proposed to go forward, & ascertain and adjust the difficulty - not doubting that such a result could be attained. I shall be happy to learn of that result.

Yours very resp.y

A.J. Coolidge Sec.y Mt. A.C.

Dear Sir,

In , you reported the condition of lot 497, Willow Ave, belonging to the estate of the late Israel Lombard, with a view to the acceptance of a bequest in his will. As the lot has undergone extensive repairs since then, will you please report on it again, as the parties now wish to finish the arrangement.

Please also report upon lot of late Benj. Fiske, no 203, Central Ave - and return to me this week, as they have a family meeting next week, and wish to place our proposition before the heirs.

Will you have the enclosed memo. handed to Edward Safford?

Truly yours

A.J. Coolidge

To the Committee on Interments

Gentlemen,

Lewis Jones, an undertaker of this City, has repeatedly violated the 16th Art. of the By-laws requiring proper orders for interment from the proprietor, and burial permits from the city or town to be furnished prior to the interment. He has been cautioned and remonstrated with, and has more than once spoken in disrespectful terms of the requirement.

On the 8th of August last he made an interment in the lot of Thos. Lamb (591) without any order furnished - without name of person interred or any of the facts. He has been repeatedly asked to make the proper return, and has promised to do so, but has failed: & a blank line stands on the Register therefore. Last week he was notified that unless he should make this return within that week, the Secretary would represent the facts for such action as a vote of the Board ^of Trustees had authorized.

Respectfully,

A.J. Coolidge Sec.y

Dear Sir,

I am fearful that the fact you wished me to prepare affidavits of title in the case of lots 1849 & 1850 has escaped your recollection - but such is the fact, and the papers have been ready for some time. If you will please call and make oath to those, and decide what next, our work will be short.

Very truly yours

A.J. Coolidge Sec.y

Capt. S. Benton Thompson

Dear Sir,

I have long intended to send you the enclosed statement of amt due from you for land added to your lot no. 2026 in the Cemetery - the same being $62.50 for 125 ft of land.

The Supt not fully understanding who the parties were at the time made out two certificates for Dr Peter Renton, one on your lot & one on the westerly lot of the range. Hence the alteration in the one sent you. Dr Renton long ago paid for his land the same price, and his burial in it.

The reason why you have not received this has been partly because it was mislaid. It was arranged on the interview which you and I had that this addition you would pay for.

I will thank you to remit $64.50 to the Treasurer with the certif. sent, & I will see that you have a deed of the addition. I am about issuing from press a new catalogue, & I wish to have this matter included among the corrected matters.

You will see that we have charged only the old price of land. The land on both sides of you is worth more than double that - but I do not propose to make you pay for the accidental delay, if paid now.

Yours truly

A.J. Coolidge Sec.y
