Trustees. .

Records.

The Trustees of the Proprietors of the Cemetery of Mount Auburn met at the office of C. P. Curtis Esq at . Present Messrs Curtis, Gould, Crockett, Bangs and Read.

The Secretary being absent, Geo. Wm Bond was elected Secretary pro tempore. Mr. Curtis in the chair.

Assistant Superintendent.

Mr Bangs from the Committe on that subject reported in writing that Mr Howe concurred with the Trustees that the increased duties of the superintendent required an assistant, and that he should cheerfully co-operate with such officer in carrying out the plans and wishes of the trustees.

The report was accepted, and it was Voted. That Mr Bangs be a committee to recommend a candidate for assistant superintendent.

Trustees.

The regular monthly meeting of the Trustees was holden on the at the office of C. P. Curtis Esqr at 12 N. Present Messrs Bigelow, Crockett, Curtis, Parker, Kuhn, Read and Bangs.

The record of the last meeting was read and approved.

Ornamental Shrubs

Dr. Bigelow from the Committee on ornamental shrubs appointed reported verbally that he had visited several places in the interior with an experienced gardiner, with the view of obtaining Laurel Bushes for the Cemetery; that from a favorable location in Wilton N. H. one hundred bushes

Statue of James Otis

Voted. That the President be instructed and authorized in the name and behalf of this Corporation to contract with some suitable artist, to be selected by him for a statue of James Otis, in marble the cost of which shall not exceed five thousand dollars.

Statue of John Adams.

Voted. That the President be instructed and authorized in the name and behalf of this Corporation to contract with some suitable artist to be selected by him for a statue of John Adams^ in marble the cost of which shall not exceed five thousand dollars.

Assistant Superintendent

Mr Bangs reported "no progress" in the selection of an assistant superintendent.

Kalmias

Dr. Bigelow reported that he has caused more than one hundred Kalmias to be transported from Wilton N. H. and set out in the Cemetery, and also other ornamental shrubs from New York. The Kalmias are planted along the front line of the Cemetery Eastward from the gate, and some of them by the pond called Meadow - Pond.

Cart Gate. Way

Mr Bangs from the Committee on the cart way gate reported that by proper signs on the gate, inside and out, the object of keeping it closed was effected.

Dr. Bigelow was now called away from the meeting.
