33 School St Boston,

J.W. Converse Esq Exor of J.B. Whall,

Dear Sir, Our Corporation is having a new survey of the Cemetery on an enlarged scale, and it is impossible to show those lots which have no visible bounds. The Whall lot, although containing a very expensive structure, has no stone or other posts to mark the corners; and as the backs are quite high & slope in different directions the measurement at any time is not quite so easy.

Every proprietor's deed requires him to put down permanent bounds of stone or iron.

Will you authorize four posts to be put down at the corners? - this expense will not exceed $10. -

Will you also have our Surveyor Mr Wadsworth, make a plan to enter in our portfolio, for the sake of more minute & accurate description than can be shown on our ordinary plan?

Yours truly

A.J. Coolidge Sec.y Mt Auburn Cemy

Mr Wm W. Appleton,

Dear Sir,

I shall have again to remind you of the fact I mentioned to you a few days since, that the body of your child had remained in our Receiving Tomb far beyond the time allowed - and of your promise to go to Mt Auburn between the (when I saw you) and the to select a lot and take steps for the removal.

I trust you will set it down for the first fair day.

Yours resp.y

A.J. Coolidge Secretary
