33 School St. Boston N. G. Carnes Esq.

Dear Sir,

Yours of Ap. 25th, with Mount Auburn bills enclosed, was only recd. In behalf of the Committee that addressed you I will say that the legers do not show any other important bills, and unless you have since found others, you need not be at the trouble to examine. I return the bill of $144.50 which I find correct.

I have asked the Superintendant as to the bill of $14. He says it was intended for you, and that he confounded your name with another on our catalogue. I therefore make a copy with your name, and enclose, which I will receipt for you when you remit.

Very truly yours, A. J. Coolidge

Mrs Ede Sanderson

Dear Madam,

Your request to know for what sum the Trustees of Mount Auburn Cemetery would assume the perpetual care of your lot, No. 1833, on Acanthus Path, was duly laid before the Committee on Lots, who have charge of the subject, and they have directed me to inform you that the Corporation will contract with you for the perpetual repair of said lot for the sum of three hundred dollars.

At any time when you shall signify it, I shall be ready to prepare the necessary document for your signature.

Truly yours A. J. Coolidge Secretary

If the curb is being cut as Mr Hutchinson told me 16f x 17f x 18f x 18f the deed (which I returned to the Treasr despairing of hearing from Mrs Blood, & which gives the dimensions of lot as 15 x 20 f) should be corrected.

Please see that the other letter is not sent for to the dead letter office.

Capt D.L. Winsor Supt

Dear Sir,

Please report upon the condition of the Cedar Hill Enclosure, belonging to Wm Appleton. I send a blank supposing you might not have the contents at hand.

Please not allude to Mrs Sam. Appleton's or Mrs Peabody's lot-, as they form no necessary part of the enclosure, and Mr A. will not think of providing for them.

The lots 3363, 3364, 3388, 3389 in the rear of Acanthus Path, which I understood you were posted, Curtis has not on the plan. He says he noticed them as being only staked.

Have you ever found my note of Christmas Day?

Yours truly

A. J. Coolidge Sec.y

Capt. D.L. Winsor,

Dear Sir,

Mr Wm M. Lathrop called in this P.M. and says he thinks he gave you an order for both posting & grading lots 3363 & 3364, Acanthus P. rear of 1833 & 1856. He talked over the size of the posts, & thinks he signed his name to the order book. -- If he is in error, please inform me, and I will have him give the proper order. -- He would like to have the grading done this season, if not too late: at all events, set the posts.

As it will probably be a day or two before the surveyors get out to you, I think it will be well for you to set as many of the posts to the lots of delinquent proprietors as possible: -- and their survey would then be the more complete. I subjoin a list of ^all the earlier lots contained on the list shown you, remaining without bounds. --

was purchased two years ago last November. --

Chas. Dana Gibson -- Lot 3629 -- Halcyon Ave -- Ornamental Ground -- 80 feet. That everlasting triangle --purchased = 3 yrs. 3 mos. 6 ds. since. Do set three posts. There is an exact copy of the sketch you then reported. How near it is to the fact I cannot say. Mr Foss stake it, [diagram: measurements] if you will execute.

Wm Thomas -- 1520 -- Columbine -- Addition of 11 in x 20 = 18 feet reported . Is this on the east or west side of lot? --

3125 --John P. Turpin's -- Acanthus P. -- Addition -- never paid for, but buried upon -- you reported [diagram: measurements] 33 ft -- He has always contended that he wished only enough to clear the grave properly -- I think abt 21 feet. He refuses to pay for 33 ft -- says he distinctly ordered only enough for the grave of Capt Rogers. If you can re-report it so as to suit him, I should like to end it.

This was reported --

Under the rule, I do not think you should wait longer for Martin Bates heirs -- 3599 -- Moss Path -- reported -- and Nathan Tufts Jr. 3734 Rosebay Ave. -- reported -- but post them. --

Respectfully yours

A.J. Coolidge
