without first taking from him the proper authorization of the pro-- prietor.

Will you please bring in the key of Wm W. Stone's lot -- no 358, on Narcissus Path. He has just written me requesting it to be sent viz express. He left it when here to have lock repaired, and a duplicate to be made and kept at the Gate. If this has been done, let the key and bill be sent: if not, have the order executed forthwith, and we will then send key and bill.

Yours truly

A.J. Coolidge Sec.y

C.F. Shimmin Esq

Dear Sir,

I have just received the deed of lot 76 in the Cemetery from you, and presume you overlooked a suggestion that I made in my first note that I should feel obliged to make you the small charge of $3 for examining into the facts and preparing deed. --

I now send the bill, trusting that as it was an indispensable service, the charge will be satisfactory.

Most respy yours,

A.J. Coolidge Sec.y Mt Auburn

[first line illegible?] [... nor have they ...?] meeting you yesterday, in showing Miss Hosmer [?]. over time, and thinks much of a triangle at the Northwesterly end of Forrest Pond, formed by the three branches of Narcissus Path just below Levi Thaxter's lot - containing about 1000 feet, perhaps, border and all.—

She wishes to erect a bronze statue to her father. For such a purpose, under proper restrictions, I should think these would be no objection, but rather be desired.

She will probably be out again in the course of a week.

I have given a pass today to Wm E. Parmenter Esqr to visit Mount Auburn tomorrow with officers & members of the Grand Lodge of Odd Fellows of the US., to the number of 80 or 100, he thinks, in carriages. They will reach the Cemetery about 4 o'clock.

I wish you would attend at once to my note the other day referring to Wm W. Stone's want of key & bill for same. He has sent again.—

Yours truly

A.J. Coolidge

Dear Sir,

I have finished the paper which I spoke to you about, & which I desire, with your approval & that of the Board to see go forth to the proprietors in a printed form. I have spent a month or two in elaborating and putting together, with a good deal of care, what I believe are the views of the Trustees on the subject of the future ^& perpetual preservation of the Cemetery and all the lots therin.—

It very may occur to you, who are so familiar with the subject, too long— but I think a careful reading of the paper will show that I have not been repetitious.

Capt. D.L. Winsor

Dear Sir,

Please send me a report on the condition &c of lot 2820 Lawn Ave (Mrs Deborah C. Powers) and an estimate of the cost of perpetual repair.—

Please explain your note in answer to 7th question about the Parker lots 1250, 1315 & 1333 which is "3 pr steps into lots & 3 pr steps in the banks, without buttresses".—

Do you mean that those steps exist there & will make it practicable to require more than $1000, or that such steps should be erected before entereing upon the contract?.

Mrs Powers wishes immediately to pay the sum for hers.

How about the key to W.W. Stone's tomb, & bill?

Yours Truly A.J. Coolidge

If the weather is fine, I think I must see you tomorrow morning.

Stephen F. Gates Esq.

My dear Sir,

The Committee on Lots have instructed me to notify you that the Corporation will contract for the perpetual repair of your lot on Laurel Avenue, No 3348, for four hundred and twenty five dollars.— This is the sum suggested by the Superintendent.

If this is satisfactory to you, I will prepare the necessary papers.—

Yours trule

A.J. Coolidge Sec.y
