Trustees _ Special Meeting _ .

A Special Meeting of the Trustees was holden on

There were present the President and Messrs Adams, Austin, Little, Lovejoy, Norcross, Rand and Read.

Subject of Notice to visitors referred to Com. on Grounds _ with power to Employ police _ &c _

The President stated that he had called the meeting at the suggestion of the Committee on Grounds, on account of a certain "notice to visitors" put up by the Superintendent, in the Cemetery, to which much objection was felt as not suited to the character of the place.

After some informed expression of opinion, and the offering and withdrawal of a motion,

upon motion by Mr Norcross, it was

Voted that the subject be referred to the Committee on Grounds, with full power, and that they give such notice to visitors, and employ such police force as they may think proper, and report their doings at the next meeting of this Board.

As it has been stated in our previous communcations, it must be obvious to all, that this examination must in the nature of the case, be only a partial one, and that there may be a further deficit of thousands of dollars entirely unknown to the Committee. As an instance of this, we will state the case of Mr Charles Merriam. Within a few days he has sent in two bills _ one of over a thousand dollars to the Granite Railway Co. which was paid to Mr Mann, and which we have ascertained was paid by him to the Railway Co: the other was for work done by the Cemetery amounting to $328, and the amount of which should have been credited by Mr Mann. Of this money, however, paid by Mr Merriam to Mr Mann, no trace can be found either in the cash book, leger or journals: the only place where Mr Merriam's name appears upon the books being for a small charge of $8 the following year. How many other cases of like nature may have occurred we have not the means of knowing, and we did not discover this until some three or four months after the proprietors had been requested to send in their bills.

The Committee addressed a circular to each of the
