Trustees.

Pursuant to notice issued by the Secretary, the Trustees of the Pros of the Cemy of Mount Auburn met at the house of Mr Bond, the Treasurer, on Present Messrs Bond, Bradlee, Brown, Curtis, Gould, Read & Story.

Laying out Lots._

Voted. That hereafter, in laying out Lots, the Commee on Lots shall allow only such space between Lots contiguous to each other, as the Commee shall deem expedient, having references to the nature of the ground.

$750 to House of Supert

Voted. That the sum of seven hundred & fifty dollars be appropriated to build an addition to the House of the Superintendant, to be expended under the direction of Messrs Gould & Read.

The following votes were then passed with the preamble as here given.

Choice & Exchange of Lots.

Whereas it is found by experience that the laying out of single lots on the application of Proprietors, is not only troublesome & expensive but is highly detrimental to the interests of the Corporation from the unavoidable waste of ground which is thereby occasioned, therefore -

Lots when specially laid out.

Voted. That present Proprietors who shall not avail themselves of the privilege of having Lots especially laid out for them on payment of ten dollars, & with the approbation of the Commee on Lots, or on

Superintendents accounts _

more effectually to protect the interests of the Pros. in the matter of the adjustment of the superintendants accounts. _

Voted. To adjourn to Tuesday next at 4 oclk.

Commonwealth of Massachusetts Suffolk ss . Then personally appeared B.R. Curtis above named & made oath that he would faithfully perform the duties of Secretary of the Proprietors of the Cemetery of Mount Auburn

Trustees

The Trustees of the Proprietors of Mount Auburn Cemetery met pursuant to the adjournment, on at the office of the Secretary.-

Present Messrs Bond, C.P. Curtis, B.R. Curtis Parker & Read.—

Superintendent.

Voted That whereas, the entire compensation of the superintendant is designed to be a salary of $600 per annm & the occupancy of the Cottage together with sufficient ground to cultivate garden vegetables for the use of his family. And whereas it is needful that the laborers on the Cemetary should be boarded in his family therefore

Voted, that in future such rate of board only shall be charged _

in the Cemetery & at such rate of board as the Trustees may from time to time fix & determine He is also to perform such other acts & things as the Trustees may from time to time direct without ^other compensation than his Salary of $600 per annum an (sic) the use of the Cottage, with sufficient ground for raising garden vegetables for his family.

Trustees

A Meeting of the Trustees of the Cemetery of Mount Auburn was held on , at the office of C. P. Curtis in Boston; present Joseph Story, George Bond, Jacob Bigelow, Benj A. Gould & Charles P. Curtis, notice having been sent to all the Trustees, in the usual manner; The Secretary being absent Charles P. Curtis was chosen Secretary pro tempore.

Tombs.

It was voted & ordered that in all the deeds of lots which shall hereafter be granted by the Corporation it shall be provided as a condition of the grant, that no Tomb shall be constructed within the bounds of the Cemetery except in or upon the lots situated, in such parts of the grounds as shall be designated, by the Trustees for that purpose, and no Proprietor shall suffer the remains of any person to be deposited in a Tomb so authorized, for hire.

Trustees.

Pursuant to notices issued in the usual manner by the Secretary, a meeting of the Trustees was holden at the office of C. P. Curtis Esqr at . Present Joseph Story Jacob Bigelow Charles P. Curtis. Benj. A. Gould. James Read and Geo. W. Crockett.

Officers chosen.

The Trustees then proceeded to the election of a President by ballot, and Joseph Story was thereupon elected.

In like manner Henry M. Parker was elected Secretary and George W. Bond Treasurer, severally by ballot.

Martin Brimmer and the Treasurer Mr Bond now appeared and attended the rest of the meeting

Comee on Finance.

Voted. That the same gentlemen as last year viz: Messrs Isaac Parker and B.A. Gould. constitute the Committee on Finance for the ensuing year.

Comee on Lots

Voted. That the Committee on Lots for the ensuing year consist of the same gentlemen who constituted that committee the past year. vis. Messrs Jacob Bigelow. C.P. Curtis & Isaac Parker.

Catalogue

Voted. To refer the subject of publishing a Catalogue and Map of the grounds the present year to the Committee on lots with authority to publish the same under such arrangements as may be made by them.

Purchase of Land.

Voted. To appoint a Committee of one to ascertain for what any land adjoining the Cemetery at Mount Auburn can be purchased. and to report to the board.

Dr J. Bigelow was accordingly appointed.

Suptds House painted.

Voted. That the Committee on lots be authorized to cause the house of the Superintendent to be painted if they shall see fit, and in such style as they shall think proper.
