Transfers of Lots. how to be recorded.

Mr Curtis stated that difficulties had arisen in regard to transfers and the recording of the same the blanks in the printed volumes of recorded deeds not being sufficient for recording some transfers, thereupon

Ordered. That the subject of recording transfers of lots be referred to Messrs C.P. Curtis & H.M. Parker the Secretary. with full power to procure new books of transfer if deemed expedient.

Rights of Way. to be altered

A letter from W.P. Winchester's ^attorney William Sohier Esquire on the subject of an alteration of the way lying adjacent to his estate and that of ___ Stone was read; thereupon

Ordered. That the Treasurer and Secretary be authorized to release the rights of the Corporation in so much of said road as lies within the bounds of said Winchester's estate, on receiving from him See deed. p. 201 " [See] plan p. 204. a legal grant of a way over such other part of his land as is proposed by him in thise ^said letter.

Purchase of Land. J. F. Stone's proposition.

Boston. . I hereby offer to the Trustees of Mount Auburn Cemetery, to exchange a strip of land thirty feet wide and as long as their whole Southern boundary between their land and mine - for a piece of land owned by them, situated Southerly from Mount Auburn and bounded Easterly on the cross road and elsewhere on land of Stones (Signed) James F. Stone.

After considerable discussion the proposition of Mr Stone was unanimously rejected.

A Committee of two consisting of Messrs Gould & Read was appointed with full powers to negotiate with Mr Stone as to an exchange of the lands in question.

Wooden Fence.

A communication from W.P. Winchester in relation to the fence now erecting, was referred to a Committee consisting of Dr Bigelow and Mr Gould with full powers to act in the matter.

Voted. That the contractors on the wooden fence be requested to stop the work on the Easterly side till farther orders.

Dr Bigelow and Mr Read were appointed a Committee with full powers to cancel in part or whole the contract for the wooden fence, as to the Easterly side of the Cemetery and also to dispose of any materials which may fall into the hands of the Corporation in making such arrangement as they judge necessary

Purchase of Land

Dr Bigelow was appointed a Committee of one with full authority to purchase land adjoining Mount Auburn if he thinks it expedient.

Lots 405. & 603.

A communication from Charles Hickling as to an exchange of lots, was referred to the Committee on

rules of the Corporation.

Adjourned to meet at the same hour and place on Friday September 7th A true record. Attest. Henry M. Parker - Secretary.

Pursuant to adjournment the Trustees met at the office of C.P. Curtis Esqr Present Messrs Bigelow, B.R. Curtis. C.P. Curtis, Dixwell, Gould & Parker.

The exchange of lands with Mr. Stone was considered but no formal action taken.

Iron Fence.

Voted. To continue the iron fence as commenced on the Easterly side of the Cemetery to the Southerly extremity of the grounds bounding on the road to Winchester's.

The preliminary arrangements for such a fence and the contracting for its erection were referred to the Committee on Lots with full powers _

Wooden Fence

Dr. Bigelow withdrew from the Committee on the timber fence, and was excused from farther service. Mr Gould was appointed in his place. That Committee (Messrs Gould & Read) was authorized to receive and dispose of the Posts not used wanted in the construction of the fence, or to pay the compensation claimed by the furnisher of the posts.

Lot. 59.

Voted That in accordance with the application of the children and heirs of the late Aaron Haskell, proprietor of Lot 59 in the Cemetery, Friend P. Haskell, the eldest son of said Aaron, be designated for the time being to represent said lot, and vote at the meetings of the Corporation, receiving a ticket of admission in that

At a legal meeting of the Trustees of the proprietors of the Cemetery of Mount Auburn holden it was voted that Charles P Curtis Esq and the Secretary be a committee with power to complete the purchase from the heirs of the late Moses Stone and with power to execute any such deeds in relation to the present interests of the corporation in the down estate of the late Mrs Pomeroy as they shall deem proper.

DEED. Proprietors. &c. to Wm P. Winchester

Know all men by these presents, That the proprietors of the Cemetaery of Mount Auburn - a Corporation established by law in the County of Middlesex & State of Massachusetts - in consideration of one dollar to them - paid by William P. Winchester of Boston in the County of Suffolk ~ and State aforesaid -- Gentleman the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, do hereby remise, release, and forever quit claim unto the said Winchester his heirs and assigns, all our right, title, interest, and estate in and to a certain parcel of land situated in the southeasterly part of Watertown in said Middlesex, with the buildings thereon, containing by survey nineteen acres and thirty five rods, be the same more or less, Bounded southwesterly by Charles River about six hundred
