C McArthur foreman

Dear Sir

I hand you time book with names of men when time you will keep on & after Feby 1st. The following are from Roll call.

E. F. Young Gatekeeper East Gate {This gate should be opened at 7 o'clock. {& close when the teamsters get out at {night. Rice Logan & Dorvy teamsters go direct to the barn, & are allowed back wet & dry as they take care of the horses on Sundays by turns. Wet days you must use them as convenient on cleaning up barn or harnesses, turning manure &ctc. Sam. Elder is also excused. Edward Patchett takes care of the offices, prepares files &c. & is to be about the gate to relieve Mr. Barker when called away, after letting Mr. Barker have the necessary men to take care of interments. You will make such progress as you can in repairing carts, wheelbarrows & building the new boats in shop, making [hor?] mats, cutting & digging out Apple trees on Stone Farm & grading on Fountain Ave. S. W. Hutchins may take the gate on Sunday mornings 1/2 a day being allowed therefore.-- G.E.S. Hutchings & Mulley will take their time here on (interment men)

A. A. Barker Esq Supt of Interments

Dear Sir

Mr. McArthur will take charge of the general work in Cemetery on and after .

I have notified him to allow S. W. Hutchings 1/2 a day for every Sunday morning he is at gate, and that G. E. S. Hutchings and Mulvy Wailes be your regular men & would be allowed all their time when present (cost per day) also that they would take their turn at being present on Sunday & could be [alieved?] for it.

In case you need a second man on Sundays I expect you to keep one, only I should prefer as Hutchings & Mulvey are among the highest paid, not to pick out the most expensive men if possible. This will give you two men on every wet day & one man on Sundays. Even if there has no notice been given of any funeral.

Yrs truly J. W. Lovering
