15th June 1860. Bob gone to get Mrs Hunts Horses shod. Weeding down Tobacco I got back from CH to Dinner Mrs Hunt came from Mrs Colemans - bob gone to shop I staid at Mr Jones last night went back to CH - to day & Banks has my Rects etc to this day to settle — Bob brot for me 3 Bbls corn 3 sacks salt 1 Bbl Lime, salt from & some corn from Millers for me nails & Iron from B for Hunts est & Plow P[o]ints etc from Richmd. Card two Hhds Tobacco from Mr Hunts plantation = 16th Mrs Hunt Sallie & Alice gone to CH I went to see Betsy sick, & then to Sarah McCullock to settle acct between her & Mr J Mustain done so & then went to aspen Grove, they were cutting wheat in Lot & had cut Rye & it Rained as hard for nearly 1½ hours as ever I saw it got home about night, had to cross at Bridge by John Lewis s - some hail fell, did not do any damage,- till the Rain Plowing & weeding down Tobacco here, Rained tremendous hard & the wind Blew down a good deal of our fencing here,- & washed very much, We hope is Elvira is mending slowly rest all got out, like for rain again to night

17th Stayed at home all day Sunday

18 I went to Court settled my acct with Estate of JDHunt as Exer. - -Thined corn this morning Plowed young corn & wed it Layed by Irish Potatoes by Peach Orchard Laying Peach orchard Corn, broke fodder stack in upper Lot began to work Tobacco in evening.

1860 Sept 1st I Returned from Lynchg & Hollins Institute & left Sallie at School wy went there & returned wednesday night & come home thursday Beet some applies etc

2nd Henry at work on yard & shiller balance cutting. Mrs Hunt started for Mr Browns this morning — I went to aspen Grove settled with Cothran, lost one Hog there

3rd went to New Bethel to meeting been going nearly 2 weeks Jacob & Mr Moses with a great many others professed

3rd Rained this morning making Brooms & Picking wool etc began to over Tobacco

4th Toping & worming succoring Tobacco cloudy, Sent Henry over to old Place to borrow their Fan to Fann out our wheat

5. Finished Toping & worming & succoring Tobacco I sent for the Fan at old place to day I went to see Mr Grastys creditors & aspen Grove to day & Collected only of one man McHaney Hubbards & Dawson etc etc

6 Finished pulling fresh ground fodder worming Tobacco Brot home still etc Halled Rocks to set it up, suned second rate Tobacco got down some to prize Faned out some wheat this morning & sent ½ Bbl new crop here to mill

7th Sent 2½ more & after that sent yesterday Prizing Tobacco to day.

8th Prizing Tobacco in morning Tying up Blade fodder & Pulled some in far field to day shacked up all pulled down we went to S S Meeting to day — Sent Doct Jenning C. Thompson for Bens child Betsy to day 1st time - 9th to see Betsy again to day — Mrs Hunt come back from Mr Browns Saturday & staid till Tuesday

Halling wood, Claiborne Jointed some shingles Chumney & Jerry Smith at work on Kitchen Raining before night regularly – little Henry in House not much the matter tho taking Physic, I stayed at home all day

2nd Rained all night Raining this morning hard taking down tobacco in new prize Barn little Henry & his mammy in house Tobacco not hight enough to take down Just done to strip, did not get down any Rained all day Just about night,

3rd looked like clearing off sometimes to day toward evening cloudy & began to rain, & about 10 oclock in the night sunday began to snow sent for Doct AW Thompson for Betsy at JD Hunts place

4th. This morning snow about 3 Inches Deep not very cold, going to hang up Our meat to day – Doct A.W.T. staid all night This day is Election Day for members to convention at Richmond, Hung up 139 ps Bacon & 23 Joles, getting & halling wood, I went to Election & left my Bundle Papers, & sent Henry for them to night, Jerry I reckon took them out when he took out some apples & chestnuts. got my Papers Henry got back at 12 oclock

5. Cutting & hewing Granary work on Kitchen Halled up stack Oats & 1 stack fodder I went to Plantation in evening

6th. Finished shingling Kitchen & Granary Logs & Halled leaves all day nearly – Bob came this morning from CH

7th Bob gone to shop, fixing Kitchen this morning
