1859 March 3rd Sent to Mill for overseer Brought Turn meal for us left his there we Thrashed Out one stack Oats
4th Mr Roby quit on acct of no coal about 3 Oclock Halling leaves wood Claiborne malling Covered Potatoe Patch halled leaves in Big lot & Corn field, I went down to Yates Mr Lewis’s & aspen Grove, fine windy day My Boar gone Two or Three weeks –
5. Winding & Cleaning Oats to Sew. Henry laying off Corn Land claiborne beding Fencing etc etc Mr W Chumbly & Balance This day Swapted off Rose with Tom Owen for a Jenny named Jane & her Jenny Colt. Jenny about 4 yrs old little Colt about 4 or 5 months old,– jenny is a female donkey
6th. Beautiful day & all gone to Edge Hill to meeting but myself,- weather moderate
7th Jonathan Dawson came here very tight last night & stayed all night, very sick from it - This morning about light it commenced raining all morning till 12 then we were Shelling Corn & fixing plows & Harrow to Plank Corn, in evening pulled down & Halled old shop to burn etc etc etc Jacob left this evening with Mr Moses,
8 Nanny & Kate Sallie & negro Catham went to Doct Thompsons got some teeth drawn & wewere fixing overseers Garden etc till night
9th Finished overseers Truck Patch this morning Squared barn Logs & Plowing for Oats in big Lot fine weather
10th Plowing for Oats & fencing Began this morning to Sew Oats, Jacob commenced Plowing this morning. Here fine weather I went yesterday to Aspen Grove gave out

1860 Feby 18th went to mauling wood in evening
Feby 19. Started to Court, Fannie stayed all night Sunday night Jere & Sallie went back to school cold day
20. Turned moderate mauling & Cutting wood in new ground, got home Monday night weather moderate
21st Halled Rails till 12 Oclock & then Henry went to Laying off Corn Rows Balance Fencing next to Capt whiteheads I went to Post office Peaks Wallers Vaughans Mr Moses & Fannie W Fitzgerald
22 Fencing on Road to day Wm Shields here Halled up Oats & Halling rails till evening & then begin to Plow in orchard I went to aspen Grove & made [Lines]
2325Fencing on Road & striped Tobacco ½ day & took down some Wednesday & then fenced on Road from Branch Wm Shields worked Thursday Friday & Saturday Rolled Logs 2 days nearly & fenced one - this week Henry Halled wood this evening very windy Friday & turned cold
26 Stayed at home to see Mrs Pannill
27 Went to Court House sent after Cotton Turn of wheat to Yates, & 1 to whiteheads Plowed & Stacked Rails next to whiteheads
28 Plowing & Fencing new ground fence made fence on Road yesterday fine weather at this time
29th Fencing at new ground & nearly finished Plowing in Lot rained a little,-
March 1st Sent Henry & Claiborne to Hodnetts to Roll Logs. Plowing, fine day cleared of[f] Beautiful weather,

1860 March 15th Sewed Oats in morning in evening coltering & Hilling at new ground Give Mr Moses 2 Bushels Oats yesterday weather moderated some,-

16 Sewing Oats & mauling & Piling trash in near new ground,
17. Coltering at new ground & Hilling. sewing Oats in evening not quite done sewing I went to sale of Mrs Hunts Land Did not sell
18. Raining this morning -- weather moderate
19th Rained all night last night striping Tobacco Rained nearly all day to day —
20th I went to CH Halled leaves done up cross fence by fresh ground & Rolled some Logs cleaned out Stables in the morning
21 Coltering old field & Hilling next to whiteheads
22. I went to Aspen Grove, Sent Claiborne to Roll Logs at Kelleys Henry & Harry finished Sewing Oats Sewed 31½ Bushels here & 64½ Bus at aspen Grove, clem & Smith Hilling to day I went to see Mrs Hunts who has been sick about a week. James Hunt up It has been very windy & cold for Several days this week, gave Bob my Coat for Mrs Hunt - Sewed Plant Beds over here
23 Rolled Logs had 1 hand from Kelleys & 1 from my plantation Mr wife went to Fannies Kates
24 Halled wood, Hilled etc Wilson Cutting little Ditch in corn field - very cold
25 went to aspen Grove & Strait Stone Nannie went with me
26 I went to Mr Pannills, Coltering Hilling & Breaking up Corn Land still cold We have at aspen Grove 17 Lambs & 1 young calf -

24th May 1860. I went to Election, Saw Mr Pannill, he is quite bad off, from a Fall from his Horse coming from Court last Monday night — Capt Yate gotwas thrown Two [too] but did not get Hurt. Bob here this day at work. weeding Corn Plowing & coltering Corn, manured Our Plant Beds this morning Finished Tuesday I believe Hilling in new ground Damp weather Mrs Hunts still very much compla[in]ing —
25. Rained Hard this morning striped Tobacco a while & then went to planting Tobacco & trying to get done Our Crop
26 I went to aspen Grove Plowing & weeding Corn to day - Fixed Clems House pulled down old House this morning Bob not here to day. Mrs Hunt still complaining - etc - Wm C Grasty here to day – – – –
27th Sunday Doct Thos Haley came to see Mrs Hunt to cure neuralgia, stayed till evening, & think she is not as bad off at night as usual Rained hard in the evening, claiborne went to Mr Moses
28 Mrs Hunt Rested tolerable last night & seems sick from the Physic this morning
29 Plowing Corn & weeding next to Capt Whiteheads Finished Plowing over there Doct Haley Came here to see Elvira, & amy sick too Doct Haley came second time to see Mrs Hunt,- Mr. Faris came between 1 & 2 oclock
30. weeding Corn Finished plowing next to Whiteheads Fixing waggon for Lynchg. Raining this evening a little
31st Rained very hard last night, I went down I went to aspen Grove to day

1860 June 30th Ben & Henry getting & fixing prize Shelter, clear & day hot
July 1st Sunday Dry & Hot, Sarah McCullock came here this morning, dry & Hot
2nd Mrs Hunt gone to Mrs Colemans Alice wont stay at Mrs Colemans to Board Began to Cut Oats in Orchard claiborne Cutting, dry & Hot
3 Plowing & Hilling up Tobacco, Bob went to Mrs Colemans with his mistress, I went over to the exhibition at Shenstone & after Jerry come up a cloud & we staid all night at Mr Moses s did not Rain but little
4th got home with Jerry soon this morning Sallie went with me, - Mrs Hunt & bob yet at Mrs Colemans, dry & Hot Jerry Harrowing late lot corn & then Halling up wheat, I Balance Hilling up Tobacco, dry & Hot weather — miss Sarah McCullock here yet. — gone
5th Finished halling up wheat, little Rain this evening I went to see Mrs Hunt at Mrs Colemans to day & to Plantation Cothran Cutting oats Finished Plowing Tobacco & We are Hilling up when we can - Mrs Hunt & Bob at Mrs Colemans yet. Sent claiborne to Plantation this 5th July to get scythe & Cradle to cut oats, Henry Halled up upper Land Leaves in stables, we expect to Cut Oats to day — finished Plowing Tobacco over & Cutting oats in evening I went to Mr Chummey Swapt Bill off got 50$ to Boot in Jewellry & got a Parcel of Bones sure enough the Horse I got a Large Cream Colrd Horse about 13 years old, swapt with a man by the name of Isaacs
