1858 Friday 12th cleared & we shucked our Corn here I went to Mrs Pannells & to aspen Grove, finished shucking about Dinner

13th Raining & snowing nearly all day

14th I went to meeting strait stone, tolerable good day -

15th I went to Court about Dividing Mrs Hunts negroes etc Balance Housing Corn here got done the good corn made 44 Barrels in all good & 7 Barrels nubbins.

16th Finishing Housing nubbins this morning. Henry Halled some dry wood & Leaves & then he goes down home Jordan went down with Cart last evening - & overseer,- Sent Jerry Smith to shop to get Robin Shod & date Hinge mended - Snowed again last night about oneInch Deep this morning had 2 snows to this day

17th Federick shoemaking here, Balance getting up corn at aspen Grove, put up balance of Hogs down there, took up Horses calves & colts to feed, - -

18th Fed, shoemaking balance getting up corn at aspen Grove, I went to Sale tho quite Poorly, pretty day - negroes sold very high,

19th Fed, finishing shoemaking balance down at aspen Grove getting up Corn got up all next to Orchard & began South side of Camp Branch, I took Fanney here at this time —medicine at this time,

20th Nannie went down to aspen Grove they are getting up Corn down there, Fed finished shoemaking & they have got them, cloudy & like for Falling, weather this evening

21st Sunday Snowed & Hailed last night being 3 we have had to this day cleared off about 9 Oclock, pretty day overhead Snow & hail melting off smartly,-

1859 April 16th Finished planting corn to day, made Box for cellar fire place & Mr Chummy laid the Hearth, & fixed the place in setting Room, John nearly finished the chimney except pencilling the bottom, Halled 1 Load of wood, & took downPoles- etc at chimney - John has been here at work on chimney 5¾ days,-

17th Snowing this morning like all the world Several Inches deep turned cooler

18. Went to court yesterday qualified as Exer of the Estate of J D Hunt Decd. Halling wood in morning then went to Halling & Coltering in second years ground, Tuesday 19th I went to Gran field to Mrs Pannills son Wms Funeral Plowing & Hilling —

[2]0 Wednesday went to aspen Grove, Hilling & Coltering - fine weather at this time

21st Went Mrs Hunt to see Mr Hubbard Settle with Yates etc etc Coltering till 12 Oclock Halling out manure & Hilling all day — Nannie gone to Mrs Fitzgeralds to day —

22 Coltering & Hilling till it Rained about 12 Oclock then Halling wood cutting & malling wood, Riving Tobacco sticks & clem spining. I went down to work on Road from Camp Branch to good Hope, finished about 12 oclock, Nannie got home this day, about 2 Oclock this evening

23rd Rained again last night, Sent to Mill for overseer, Halling wood & manure to day Riving Tobacco Cutting & splitting wood. Turned very cool last night & the wind blows Hard & cold I went to Cedar Forest to warrant vs Est J D Hunt Decd etc had Bill shod at yates behind etc etc.

1860 Feby 18th went to mauling wood in evening

Feby 19. Started to Court, Fannie stayed all night Sunday night Jere & Sallie went back to school cold day

20. Turned moderate mauling & Cutting wood in new ground, got home Monday night weather moderate

21st Halled Rails till 12 Oclock & then Henry went to Laying off Corn Rows Balance Fencing next to Capt whiteheads I went to Post office Peaks Wallers Vaughans Mr Moses & Fannie W Fitzgerald

22 Fencing on Road to day Wm Shields here Halled up Oats & Halling rails till evening & then begin to Plow in orchard I went to aspen Grove & made [Lines]

2325Fencing on Road & striped Tobacco ½ day & took down some Wednesday & then fenced on Road from Branch Wm Shields worked Thursday Friday & Saturday Rolled Logs 2 days nearly & fenced one - this week Henry Halled wood this evening very windy Friday & turned cold

26 Stayed at home to see Mrs Pannill

27 Went to Court House sent after Cotton Turn of wheat to Yates, & 1 to whiteheads Plowed & Stacked Rails next to whiteheads

28 Plowing & Fencing new ground fence made fence on Road yesterday fine weather at this time

29th Fencing at new ground & nearly finished Plowing in Lot rained a little,-

March 1st Sent Henry & Claiborne to Hodnetts to Roll Logs. Plowing, fine day cleared of[f] Beautiful weather,

17th July 1860 Stacked Oats all day & finished put 1 stack in stable & put up 14 stacks claiborne stack one stack Bob stacked balance

18 - Henry Complaining gave him some Pills claiborne Jointing shingles all day balance began to shrub for Corn another on road my wife & Mrs Hunt gone to Mrs Colemans to see Isaac Overby who is there sick, bob Carried Mrs Hunt Carriage to shop to have tires, etc, Pal Came after work for his Mama Sent her 3 lbs wool Bags & all & some grease to grease it - Dry & Hot weather

19th I went to aspen Grove this day bob gone after Mr Overby & Mrs Hunt at Mrs Coleman Doct Thompson went to see Isaac Overby Rained 2 Showers in evening Run in the yard Grubing in corn field Henry sick & doing not much claiborne Jointing Shinglings & Digging whole for Prize Stump Jerry gone to Mrs Panills & shields to see about Thrashing their wheat

20th July cloudy, Shrubing for corn Toping Tobacco this morning first we toped

21. Shrubing corn field for 1861 Henry & Claiborne planking Prize shelter & Rounding & Jointing shingles I went to Fannies & Kates Sal & Alice went with me.

22nd I went to Prayer meeting clear & Dry in morning — In the shortly after I got home It began to Thunder & very soon a cloud come up & Rained hard, Severe Lighting - Rained a fine shower 3 times, Doct Estes stayed all night

23rd Striping Tobacco finished in big barn & then went to Little barn Plowing up Turnip Patch sewing Turnips in Garden etc etc Bob not here to day. Brought Bitter from aspen Grove mare bot of Mrs Fitzgerald.

24th Bob Sick & Mrs Hunt Complaining went down to aspen Grove Thrashing wheat sent 4 hands & my Horses. did not get done clem & charles at home Shrubing Corn Land Plowed up Turnip Patch fine weather

25th Finishing Thrashing wheat at aspen Grove Machine will go to Mrs Pannills to day Hired Ben to go with it @ $8 pr month Mr Wright came here to work on yard this morning – fine weather this morning I have got Lucy bot from Fannie & like her very well to ride

26th machine at Mrs Pannills Mr Wright here, Halling manure on Turnip Patch this morning choping & hilling up Tobacco Second time, next to Whiteheads,- Jerry went to see Isaac overbyyesterday

27th Finished Thrashing at Mrs Pannills & got to James McHaneys about 2 Oclock, had to feed Horses & fix got out one stack this day

27. Machine at James McHaneys getting out wheat Ben with it at home striping Tobacco Mr Wright here fixing & work on Railing. Mr Cothran met met me yesterday to help fix down machine - cloudy & like for Rain this morning machine went to John Shields from McHaney did not do any thing at all

28th last evening a fine shower of rain about 10 Oclock Mrs Coleman Sent for Nannie I went with her got back about 1 oclock quite unwell to day myself, gave Mrs Coleman a dose of Calomel, went to Chumneys this morning Sent to yates to have hischild coffin made
