My dear Bessie

I think you will like to
hear that I went twice down
to Richmond during my few days
in London to see your Aunt E.
She always seems so glad to see me
that I wish I could go to her
more frequently but I was so ill
for many weeks before I went
abroad that I was quite unable
She talks to me about many
things which mutually interest
us - but fails to be able to carry
on any sustained conversation
It is very sad & very touching
often - and one can do nothing

All her servants seem so kind
& one can see by the expression
of her face that she likes them
