I H Thompson called for med:
& advice for wife.
S.C. Gorrell came for me to
see & prescribe for Mrs G. Charley
& I went there ( beyond Hopewell)
before dinner Charley driving me
as I felt weak & miserable.
Harry Archer dined here.
Several bad "fainty" spells & prayed
that I might pass away in
one of them, if I must suffer thus
much longer. But God's will be done.

About home all day. Mrs
Caldwell Sr; called- Slept
part of the afternoon.
Miss Annie Worthington and
her brother John called after
tea- also Wm Jackson (colored)
for advice & med:
Recd letter from sister H &
answered it - Sent C to Stafford.

Sent Charley to Mrs E.M. Jackson's
& Green Spring
Rebecca Edge called at office
for advice & medicine.
Spent some time at the office
arranging & destroying some papers
& documents- In bed most of
the morning- suffering with palpatations
& dysponea- or shortness
of breath-

THURSDAY 17
Very warm & close. Thunderstorm
last night past midnight, slept none
"Assessors" called and re assessed
me " from Dan to Beersheba".
Sent Charley to Stafford & Darlington
Sister Harriet arrived from Phila
having come from Lapidum with
Jimmy and Hetty Wilson they having
been to the "Centennial".
They arrived here just before
dark.
