They will probably say about the ball. Think
again. We can make it about any of
them. Give them thirty sentences or more
till they can tell what the sentence is
about. What is this sentence about. The boy.
What is said about the boy? These are
certain words in every sentence that say
something. Rub these words out and the sentence
means nothing. Put our typical sentence
on the board and rub out found. All
saying words are called verbs. A verb is the
prinicpal word in the sentence. Go back
to sentences and reader and pick out the
saying words. Some times find several words
in one expression as [ ?] have been sliding.
By this time been four or five weeks at the
work. We must work slowly. In about
three months they can tell nouns, pronouns,
adjectives and verbs. In sentences ask, what
is this about, and what is said about it?
What one word says? Use active intransitive
verb and progressive form. The last form is
attractive to children. When they can pick
out verbs readily tell them that the word
or words which say or assert something are
called verbs. As soon as they can
