Department of Commerce and Labor
LIGHT-HOUSE BOARD
Washington

10 April, '07.

[Stamped]
Ent'd APR 13 1907

Sir:

Referring to the letter dated 2 April, '07, from the Chief of Engineers to the Hon. the Secretary of War, relative to the status of the old light-house reservation at Yaquina Bay, Ore., which letter was referred to this Department by endorsement under date of 3 April, '07, the Department has the honor to state that upon receipt of the information contained in the endorsements upon the letter dated 23 March, '06, from Sen. J.M. Gearin to the War Department, the Light-House Board assumed control of the site. The Department regrets that its action in the matter was not communicated to the War Department.

On 12 May, '06, the site was again transferred to the Treasury Department for the use of the Life Saving Service, subject to the future needs of the Light-House Establishment.

Respectfully,

[signature]

Secretary.

Hon. William H. Taft,
Secretary of War.
