Mr Wilkinson's explanation is
below ----- viz --- that the Lord of the Manor of
Easington and Boulby - near Redcar - is represented
by William Lloyd Wharton Esq of Dryburn Durham, who is
the sole surviving trustee of the late Robert Wharton Myddleton
Esq - Lord of the said Manors. _ He left several
children whose interests are represented by Mr Wharton.
The Steward for the Estate and Manors is Mr George
Trotter of Tunstall - near West Hartlepool who it appears
called upon you this year and about two years ago.

57 3 Sailed from London. 26th March.
Arrived at Shields 4th April, was stranded
got off, - and Repaired. Still belongs to Hull - Her certif-
icate of Registry was not cancelled.
The Master who was in Newark when stranded
is now away on a voyage to Monte Video - and the owner
cannot reply to these queries. -----
The Owner of the "Newark" has been informed
that when crossing the Bar at Shields - the master of
the Steam Tug let go the tow rope and she went
on shore. That was in the evg of the 4th April and she
was got off next day. The owner of the wreck is not
a nautical man & cannot reply to this query. _ But
it appears to me from the replies to Nos 14 & 15 that
the stranding of this Vessel was consequent on the
master of the Steam Tug casting her loose at an
improper time
