respecting the Boat in question. I was unable to
do so in consequence of requiring information
on the subject from Mr Shacklock --who was --
and still is sick-- As soon as I obtained the
required information, I wrote to Mr Stone and
sent him form 13 on the 30th Ultimo--which I
expect he will fill up and return--
" Anchor Droit 148"
This anchor was picked up and delivered to
the late Mr Stephenson with 25 fathoms of chain.
The finder's name is John Wallis it is entered in
Mr Stephenson's Book on the 11th December 1854
which corresponds with the notice delivered
to him by Wallis---I have however sent the
paper to Mr Stephenson who used to assist his
father---and requested him to see that the
proper article is delivered---you however
say nothing about chain which leads
me to suppose the wrong one has been
selected---if you will have the goodness
to see Mr Stephenson on this subject no doubt
the error can be rectified. J. S

I am in receipt of your note of
yesterdays date aquainting me that you
are unable to agree with the Salvors
of Anchor and Chain 148/1855 and in order to
ascertain its value request its immediate
sale by auction--- I am sorry that
Mr Shacklock is still confined to his
house - and I believe Capt'- Metcalfe
is also unwell-- I therefore have no
representative at Bridlington Quay- but I
am sure Mr Stephenson if applied to will
