many old memories & even if
it does not leave a lasting
impression it gives her a pleasure
and her attendants are so glad
because as she will not let me
out of her sight – they are for once
released whilst I am with her
The constant attendance is trying –
for she is quite able to call them &
invent business for them all.

I always come away feeling sad
& longing to be of some comfort or
help to her – but the one comfort
is her constant regard for Dr Burns
and his never failing care of her
and attention to her – & next the
affecte devotion of all her household
but it is a sad sad existence –

All I hear of you & yours interests me
very much dear Elizabeth –

It is strange your being in the house
in which we lived for a year!!
