My dear Bessie

It is with real sorrow that I have
heard of the sorrow and anxiety
that has been laid upon you lately.
I am now wishing so much for news
as when dear Libby wrote, your
dear Husband had that terrible
fever which had deprived you of
your little darling – I do feel so very
much for you poor dear – and
also for your dear mother, for truly
your joys & sorrows are altogether
hers. May God give you comfort
and enable you to accept his will
and to say from your heart like
the mother of old "It is well"
but it is a hard wrench. and time
alone can accustom you to the want
of the dear presence in the house.
