Antonia & I went bumming across
the river - Next to Les Invalids
the grandest thing I ever saw, the
great tomb of Finish marble with
a wreath of laurel leaves in interspersed
here and there tied with purple
ribbon - Joseph Bonaparte - one
side Jerome " " on the other side
the most beautiful altar above
the tomb, with the incription
"Let me be taken to the banks of
the Seine and repose amongst
the people I love so well". Went in
the chapel saw the battle flags
around the tomb and the names
Wagram- Jena- Moscow
Pyramids - Merango- Austerlitz
Rivoli - his great battles, then
went to St Clotilde - a fine church
and again to St Sulpice - Went to
a factory where they make images
for churches - Saints & Virgins &
[Saviours?] - Dec 28th Another day

reading the Riddle of the Sphinx
