While the boys were locating fish schools down under, I decided to swim 100 yds to our 2nd canoe. All I could see even with goggles was deep blue depths so I kicked harder. I was cutting through the swell like a speed boat when I fouled a high razor-edged reef. In a matter of seconds I was flounderng - not able to swim nor stand. I did put my feet on some coral but it broke apart. Eventually I found something more substantial & I stayed there marooned. The natives worry little over coral as their skin is tough but I'm no native.

Later we were scooping up fish by the dozen. A huge shark gave me a scare. I soon returned to the canoe & waited with the rifle. The kindergarten were most unconcerned.

Our haul totalled over a hundred fish so we called it a day. Every variety had been caught. The colours were brilliant. One fish sufficed for two meals per man on the average. So we were able to supply half the battalion.

Well, honey, bed is calling. I tire easily these hot nights. Believe that I trust you implicity.
Tenderest love & xs.

Your loving fiance,
Alan
