Excepting for a short period
this day myself and the clerk,
who is also clocked – were engaged
in the office from 9 a.m. till 5 p.m
in checking entries. receiving
duties for and so fully were
we employed that I found it
impossible to send him to the
Bank with my collections
accounting to £458— which
for safe custody I had myself
to deposit in the iron safe of a
neighbouring Mercantile
Establishment — Entries were
passed for goods from the
warehouses for home consumption
in the forenoon which it was
impossible, from not having
a separate locker, to deliver
until after 5 oclock — much
I regret to add, to the in–
convenience and annoy–
ance of those who had paid
duties in the morning

I have myself for some time
acted as Warehousekeeper
taking charge of the W.H.K
Register and entering therein
