Description

Rachel Cornelia Dixon Bamford (1836-1927) is the younger sister of Irene Dixon Bamford.

Born in Jefferson County, New York, she spent most of her adult life residing on Wolfe Island. She spent her time living alone on her farm, which was tended by her nephew Voltie.

Her husband, Captain James Devolson Bamford or J.D., is the brother of William Wells Bamford, Irene Dixon Bamford’s husband. He passed away in a bad storm in 1867 and his body was never recovered. Voltie was named after him.
