4th. 7m. 1829

In celebrating the day of Independence, Geo. Lane
& Charles Hathaway were loading a Cannon on Folly house
Hill, when for want of being swabed [SWABBED], she discharged
before they were ready, & wounded them badly in their
hands, who are likely to recover, but not without the
loss of some of their fingers, & partially disabled during
their lives

1.26.7 Daniel arrived here this morning from Hartford
with Timothy F Gerald, on a visit. Alice had been
here three weeks previous to Daniels coming
3. 8m. Daniel & Alice left here for Hartford in the Bedford
Packet, & arrived 6th. inst

In the 6th month & part of the 7th, the weather was
dry, very little rain, all kinds of vegetation appeared
unpromising, but soon after some seasonable showers
of rain occurred, which enlivened the growth, &
increased the production of the earth a wonderful
manner. And on the whole the season may
justly be called uncommonly productive.
Every article of produce that is common at
this season of the year, is abundant & cheap
[margin 15th]
in our markets. Potatoes 50 Cts. Apples 50 Cts.
Blackbery's 8 Cts. Whortele [WHORTLES] 5 Cts. Onions 3 Cts.

15 - In the fore part of the day, a fine rain

10th. A Caravan of Wild Animals, was brought here
& exhibited in an enclosure, between Sarah Bankers
& Susanna Macy's houses

25-8 A soaking rain, attended with Thunder & Lightening
the weather warm -- The course of the weather
is prosperouse for vegetation
