Since Andrew Jackson has come into
the station of President of the U.S -- a very large
number of Governmt. [GOVERNMENT] officers have been removed
from office without any reason being rendered
for the removal? among others Thomas Macy
as Post Master was removed 15th. 5m. 1829. & George W
Ewer appointed in his stead, very much against
the minds of the people of this place

It being under consideration by the members
of the Legislature to cut a Canal from Boston
to the North river, which will probably
cost the State of Massachusetts 5000000$
And the inhabitants of this place being fully
convinced that they cannot be benefitted by

it. Under this consideration it was thought
necessary to elect 5 Representatives
viz James Mitchell, Seth Pinkham
Hezekh. [HEZEKIAH] Barnard, Jared Coffin
& Geo. W Gardner, with instructions
to use their endeavours to prevent its being
a State charge

The fore part of the season, it appeared likely
there would be a great crop of Hay, but of late
it has proved otherwise, the weather has been
uncommonly dry; it is a number of weeks since we
have had much rain, the crop of Grass particularly
the upland has fell short very much. The weather

continues to be very dry, & of late very warm.
The gardens are drying up very much, it now
appears that every kind of vegetation will be
very unproductive.
