Rules and Regulations

for the goverment of the Superintendent and
Gardener of Mount Auburn

First. He shall reside in the Lodge, provided for that
purpose and faithfully perform the duties which may be
assigned by the Garden and Cemetery Committee.

Second. As Superintendent he will have charge of
the whole establishment, and the supervision of all the
work which may be ordered to be performed by the Garden
and Cemetery Committee, in the erection of buildings,
fences and other structures, in laying out forming and
keeping in repair Avenues and Paths and in the location
of Lots.

Third. He shall also have the general Superinten-
dence of interments at the Cemetery, and the Sextons
shall in all cases receive their directions from him.

Fourth. He shall keep a record of the names and
ages of all persons interred in the Cemetery, with the time
and place of burial; and also in a book prepared for that
purpose, he shall have a sketch of each lot to mark
therein the portions appropriated for burials from time
to time, that the same spot may not through ignorance
be used twice.

Fifth. He shall, under the direction of the Garden
& Cemetery Committee, adopt such measures, as may he
