1862-10-06 Trustee Committee on Gatekeeper, Recommendation for Derby, 2021.004.041

The undersigned "Committee on Interments charged with the duty of selecting a suitable gate keeper in place of Mr Safford would respectfully report, the name of James Derby Jr as a person suitable and competent to discharge the duties of that office. They recommend that he be paid a salary of four hundred dollars pr annum, & the additional sum of seventy five cents pr week to enabl him to compensate a substitute whom he shall procure to perform his duties as gate keeper, one half of every Sabbath Said substitute must (in the judgment of the Committee^{and the Superintendent} be as suitable & competent as Mr Derby
