Sir:

I most respectfully apply for the situation as Gate Keeper of Mount Auburn Cemetary, Cambridge,Mass. I have served at (4) four years in the Army, In the 2nd, & [?] Regt's of Infantry, I am partially disabled in my Right Arm, by a Gun shot wound received in Action, it does not, however prevent me from doing light work, I have untill lately been employed as a Clerk in the Adjt Gen's Office, but on account of the appropriation of Money being expended, they were obliged to dispense with all extra Clerks, I find it difficult to get employment at present, I have a Wife dependant on me for support, and it is necessary that I should get a situation as soon as possible.

I submit this to your kind consideration and remain, your ObtSvt George P. Southack, NoHarrison Ave, Boston Mass

I have the honor to enclose Recommendations, you will confer a favor by returning the papers[?]
