Subject: Myrtle Graves Must be removed or else become P.C.
[Letterhead: OFFICE OF Superintendent Mt Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge. Jan. 28, 1982.
L2611
P.O. CAMBRIDGE, MASS.]
Mr. William F. Whittemore,
Boston, Mass.
Dear Sir:-
In answer to your letter of Jan. 26th, I
will say that if the myrtle is to remain on the lot for any length
of time, the larger sum, $875.00 will be necessary. The sum of
$500.00 cannot be accepted unless the mrytle is removed first.
In case other headstones should be placed upon the lot, the
necessary amount can be added from time to time. The sums named
to you provide only for care of those stones now on the lot.
Respecfully yours,
[J. W. ?] Supt.
I do not think you understand my question. It is this, Can I now [?] the necessary [?] for perpetual care of the lot with out mrytle. with the proviso that the myrtle shall remain so long as I pay the necessary sums from year to year to keep it in order. Myrtle to be removed when I fail to pay such added [?] or in case of my death. What additional sums will be required for our [?] in lot? about [?] = WW

Dear Sir
No lots ^with myrtle [graves? indecipherable]^ are taken under perpetual care unless the myrtle is provided for in the contract for perpetual care, so that it will be necessary either to pay for the perpetual care of the myrtle, or remove it now.
The [washing?] & [painting?] ^of^ one [new?] level will [indecipherable] $25 to cover pointing and perpetual care.
