Supt Mt Auburn Cemetery

Dear Sir:

Have you any work to which you can refer me on grading and care of Cemetery Lots?

Just now I wish to know the approved style as to the surface of lots on an inclined plane.

To illustrate by a line & lot, is the surface of lot to be level or to slope parallel to the surface of the ground?

[diagram: crossview of the elevation]

Which is correct

Your note is recvd

I do not know of any work as you refer to.

All the land we have recently laid out has been graded as a park or lawn would be and the lots have been kept to that grade without [regard?] to [being?] land. -- Outside of the appearance where lots on ground above the common level the side banks are very hard to keep in order.
