My dear Sir: --

I desire to learn to what extent, if at all, White Bronze (Zinc) monuments have been erected in your Cemetery.

A strong effort is being made by the manufacturers to place them on the Gettysburg battlefield, which to this time has not been encouraged by the Board of Directors. They have the feeling that monumental structures manufactured at wholesale, of such material occupy the same public estimation, in reference to real works of art, as a chromo does to an oil painting; -- ready made clothing, boots and shoes and machine lace to the real article &c.

I shall be glad to hear from you.

I have the honor to be, Very truly yours,

Supt. of tablets and legends.
