Dear Sir -- The friends of Miss Whiting who was buried at Mt. Auburn Apr. 11th find a great deal of fault (and it seems to us with much cause) with the way your people used them in regard to the use of the chapel which to use their own expression was "as cold as a barn". I sent word that the service would be at 3 P.M. at the chapel supposing that they there would use some judgement with regard to heating &c as has been the case before As persons who use it are always willing to pay any needed expense. got there before the funeral were obliged to get into their carriages to get warm and it was impossible for them to stay inside to listen to the service. I have paid all charges and now they kick and I don't blame them To do a funeral and have every thing satisfactory and then have a kick over some thing of which I had no control is very unpleasant.

The order was given as it always has been and the chapel has always been heat in cold weather.
