Subject: Fence "Relic of barbarism," Trees.

Milton, July 19. '[18]81

677

Dear Sir, Yours of 12th inst. duly read. I am glad that "relic of barbarism", the iron fence, is going down. I hoped to get over but cannot at present. Thank you for estimate of resodding. I shall have ample time to consult the various owners & get their decision before the suitable time for doing that work. I trust I said eno', when we met abt pruning the maples trees around the lots. They are the beauty of the lots. Pray do not trim them any more. "Woodman spare those trees." Truly yrs. C. P. Channing.
